One Third of Employees Do Not Believe Their Opinion Matters

Employees often feel that company management is not interested in their opinions and that feedback goes unanswered. At the same time, as many as 90 % consider internal communication crucial for trust and motivation. The quality of communication and a transparent approach therefore have a major impact on how teams function.

More Than One Third of Employees Do Not Believe Their Opinion Matters to the Company

For most employees, internal communication is one of the key factors influencing job satisfaction. The same applies to respect for employees’ opinions, needs, and interests. This was also confirmed by the Employee Barometer survey conducted by Up Benefity.

Asking Is Not Enough. Companies Must Listen and Communicate

For employees, salary is not the only important factor. Recognition, fairness, and respect matter just as much. Feedback is essential because it forms the foundation of motivation and trust. However, companies still do very little with the results they collect.

Year over year, employee demand for respect toward their opinions and needs, open company communication, and meaningful feedback has continued to grow.

Companies are improving only partially. There are still employees who believe the company does not care about their opinions or actively avoids them. Only one third of employees believe company management is genuinely interested in feedback results and addressing shortcomings. Another third feel management is rather uninterested, while the final third believe management may care, but employees are never informed about the outcomes. This can easily lead to frustration and other negative consequences.

Share the Results With Employees

Most employees (95%) want to know the results of satisfaction surveys. They are also interested in how their company compares to others. Transparency is a powerful motivational factor. When people see that a company is not afraid to share results and openly discuss weaknesses, trust grows along with the willingness to engage.

Communication Channels Should Keep Up With the Times

The problem is not always a lack of communication from management. Sometimes the issue is choosing the wrong communication channel. Companies still rely heavily on mass emails, meetings, intranets, or company-wide gatherings. As a result, roughly every sixth employee either never hears company news or learns about it only unofficially.
